SLSA CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS - are APPROVED!

The current board of the SLSA is calling a Special General Meeting to have currently eligible SLSA voting members, vote YES or NO to the proposed amendments in the PDF document file which can be found at this URL:-

All SLSA members are welcome to read the file, but the current constitution provides that only surfers that have competed in an event in the last 3 months may vote on such propositions. According to this criteria, in the following embedded image is the list of SLSA members currently eligible to vote. These SLSA members will be contacted in SL with specific instructions on how to register their vote. Their vote will need to be sent to all the current directors of the SLSA.

Votes should be cast between midnight August 5th and Midnight August 7th (SL time)Two day Range to accommodate different time zones and accessibility.

The proposed constitutional amendments were drafted, in an attempt to avoid the recent situation in which 3 members of the SLSA board had left or resigned leaving only 2 sitting board members. The proposals address this situation, and provide clearer definition on duties and roles of directors and officers of the SLSA. Again please read the PDF in the link above. That document is structured so that the current version of the constitution is on the left, the proposed version is on the right with comments and rationale below each clause, one clause per page.

The vote will be a simple YES or NO and will apply to all the proposed amendments as a whole.

Thank you Kathy, for your show of support. We all worked very hard on the changes, and I'm glad it shows. We knew right off that one of the biggest concerns we were facing as a board was the constitution, since almost every issue being brought up by the membership could be traced back to it.

I really hope everyone in the community looks through it, and that all eligible voters exercise their right to vote! In this case it's not only a right, it's a privilege, and the opportunity to have a hand in your own future.

a new SLSA Constitution will come in to effect immediately.

The proposition to amend the SLSA constitution was passed under the criteria of the original constitution. With 54 eligible voters, 36 YES votes were received, 2 NO votes were received. 3 additional votes were received ineligible voters.
